Flori lives in the deep, green forests of the Amazon. He likes to swing from tree to tree with his friends and watch the colorful birds flying overhead. His home is a place full of life. But the Amazon is beginning to change more and more. Flori and his friends have to watch anxiously as people encroach more and more on the forest, cutting down trees or destroy them with fire. Where once there was a lush forest, Flori and his friends find only bare areas. Where should they play now? Where will they find food? Many of his friends have already disappeared. The rainforest is becoming increasingly silent and sad.

The Amazon rainforest is in danger.

Every day, rainforest the size of 2,000 soccer pitches is destroyed. That is 10.9 times the size of the Hanover Trade Fair or 4.1 times the size of Central Park in New York. As a result, countless animals, plants and, in some cases, people are losing their homes.

In addition to important habitats that need to be protected in order to preserve biodiversity, rainforests have an impact on the climate in the tropics and also on the Earth’s climate. This is because the trees and plants in the rainforest bind large amounts of carbon as they absorb CO2 from the air. They use the carbon to grow. This produces oxygen, which we need to breathe. This process is also known as photosynthesis.

However, cutting down rainforests has an impact on the climate, as the stored carbon is released through the use of the wood or the rotting of branches and leaves, for example.

Carbon that has been bound by the forest for thousands of years is released back into the earth’s atmosphere as carbon dioxide. CO2 acts as a greenhouse gas and accelerates global warming.

Only as owners do we have an influence on the untouchability of nature.

Because protecting the rainforests is so important, we will buy rainforest in the Brazilian Amazon to protect them from deforestation, preserve habitats, safeguard biodiversity and protect the climate.
One of our co-founders has lived in Brazil for more than 30 years and is active there as an environmentalist. He gives us access to huge areas of land.
